“I come to work every day because I believe that our foundation has a role to play, along with our thousands of partners, in making the world a more equitable place. A necessary element of that role is helping women and girls realize their own power to advance the well-being of their families, their communities, and their societies.” —Melinda Gates 2014
This resonates with what we at GTL say in our vision statement:
“Growth Through Learning envisions a world where all women receive the education they need to realize their own potential and fulfill their aspirations for themselves, their families, and their communities.”
GTL is an organization in central Massachusetts that has been funding the education of bright young girls in East Africa who would not be able to afford a secondary school education with out scholarship aid. We raise the money needed and with the expertise of our African coordinators, close to 300 girls went to secure boarding schools this year. We, like Melinda, are proud to say that we believe in what we are doing, we believe in our students and we especially believe in our partners and supporters both here and in East Africa.
