We have new dates for travel to East Africa, May 24-June 4, 2015. We had to cancel the 2014 trip due to unavoidable circumstances.
GTL Board members will make the annual visit, in May 2015, to tour schools and participate in the annual conference with the East African scholarship coordinators. This is always a highlight for those of us who volunteer with GTL and make this journey. Africa is a very beautiful continent and the people we work with, are by now, our dear friends. Our group will spend time in Tanzania and then in Uganda. Each year, one country hosts the conference for us. This year it will be our coordinator Sister Salome Nnambi from Uganda who organizes our conference and assists us in visiting the secondary schools where our scholarship recipients study and live.
The board members pay their own way on the travels, thereby ensuring the funds for scholarships are secure for the students. Jackie Shaffer, who sits on GTL’s Advisory Board, will travel with GTL BOD and has offered to assist GTL in assessing the evolution of the Board and whether GTL continues to meet the needs of the girls, their parents and the schools they attend. The results of our conference and our assessment will be made available to our donors and interested supporters on the website shortly after we return.
