And the winner is…

Thanks to everyone who posted and sent in captions by email this week! In my great wisdom (and because as of yet, there are no other judges involved), I have chosen Meg’s caption for our prize. I will be emailing Meg directly to offer her a choice of prizes.

And now something for the history minded. Tanzania was formed in 1964 from the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar. Zanzibar not only has a fantastic name, it also has a storied past. Which of the following powers did NOT hold sway in Zanzibar during some point in its history?

a. the Sultanate of Oman

b. Great Britain

c. Uganda

d. Germany

You get an extra point if you can name the famous Tanzanian who led the nation to independence. Good luck!

  1. Louis says:

Uganda was not involved as were England, Germany and the Sultan of Oman. And the famous leader of Tanzania in 1964 would be Julius Nyerere.
But now tell us what was Meg’s caption for the puzzled youngster?
