I draft this post from a spare but comfortable room at the Parklands Sports Club in Nairobi. We had an uneventful flight in after negotiating the vast, glossy aerial maze of London Heathrow’s terminal 5. We even made a few friends (hello to my seat companion from Surrey and to Khayanga Jenipher Wasike about whom I will write more in a future post!).
After the enormity of Terminal 5, Nairobi airport was a comfortable sort of chaos. Before leaving we collected some Kenya shillings from an ATM and had our cell phones sorted out for us by the two friendly and efficient salespeople at an impeccably shiny Safaricom booth just outside the gate.
Tomorrow we will stop for mosquito nets, a few soccer balls and a moment at an internet cafe (where I can upload this) before our driver, John, takes us on the 3-4 hour drive out to Kerugoya. Jambo, everyone, from bustling Nairobi!
